Биография

Quinn's journey into music started at the early age of three in a small town in Maine when he got his very first drum set. His intense passion for music and percussion led him to the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Jazz Performance. After graduation he spent two years in Boston playing in local bands, doing session work and experimenting with drum-machines and electronic drums before deciding to move to Los Angeles in 1988.

In 1993 while playing in local Los Angeles' bands and doing studio work he got the overwhelming desire to compose songs of his own and started to record some tracks on an eight track cassette recorder, which got the attention of many record labels and led to his three record association with Shiro Records and Endou Records. Those actual eight track recordings even ended up making it onto the final CD. In 1994 his critically acclaimed debut CD Quinn was released, fusing elements of music from all over the world into a multi-cultural soundscape that unified rhythm and emotion. The music was woven from as many acoustic, percussive and ethnic instruments as it was electronic, and with inventive beats he combined the modern rhythms and technology of the day with the semi-secular mystery of time gone by. It charted number two on Virgin Megastore's 'Top 30' and remained there for nine months with four songs being featured in the movies Silent Trigger in 1994 and Father (Winner of Damah Film Festival Award) in 2001. In 1996 his second CD Ecstasy in Avila, which included the song Sacred Revelation, aired on radio nationwide and most notably on Morning Becomes Eclectic with Chris Douridas, charting both on the Gavin and CMJ charts. It was also featured on several compilation CDs including Elevation II and Respirar II, with it's CD cover featured on a prominent Sunset Strip Billboard in Hollywood, California. His third CD called The Solemn Vow, the story of a woman named Miderion struggling to maintain a virtuous desire while in the heart of raging emotion, was conceived as a modern world opera ballet and released in 1998. It merged world and classical music together with Quinn playing drums and percussion from all over the world, snake charmers, bamboo flutes and keyboards along with Soprano, Contralto, Tenor and Bass classical voices. In 2000 he released his fourth CD called Chasing Silence on his own independent label called Orison Records, and continued to showcase the masterful versatility of uniting music from diverse world cultures using such captivating instruments as; Armenian Duduk, Snake Charmer, Zurna, Bamboo Flute, Middle Eastern and Celtic Cello, Sitar, Harmonium, Exotic Percussion and stirring vocals and chants, including the voice of Donna De Lory (Madonna's long time background singer).

He has played with such notable artists as Michael Brook , Mitchell Froom, Paula Cole, Belinda Carlisle, Patti LaBelle, Meshell Ndegeocello, Vonda Shepherd, Judy Collins, Michael McDonald, Vesta Williams and has worked with many of the worlds top session musicians and producers including Nathan East (Eric Clapton), Gail-Anne Dorsey (David Bowie), Lili Haydn (Robert Plant, Matchbox Twenty, Sting), Paulhino Da Costa (Michael Jackson), Rick Nowells (Dido, Celine Dion, Madonna, K.D. Lang), Mitchell Froom (Neil Finn, Suzanne Vega and Los Lobos), Michael Brook (Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Brian Eno) to name a few. He's also composed numerous pieces for television and film, including the music for the launch of the UPN Network, the Roseanne Talk Show theme and the opening title song for the film Sub Down called Saving Rain, featuring Stephen Baldwin and Gabrielle Anwar. He's written compositions for the top Music Library companies that can be heard on television, film and radio around the world every day.

Quinn is currently working on his fifth, sixth and seventh records (Beneath the Quiet - Currently in rotation on Morning Becomes Eclectic 89.9 KCRW with Nic Harcourt in Los Angeles, Above the Storm and The Essence of Quinn) and continues to be inspired by images of the world's beauty, glory, pain and struggle. He's also touring the world playing his unique drum/percussion kit with the band East Mountain South (DreamWorks Records, Robbie Robertson - Artist Relations, Mitchell Froom - Producer) and guitarist/composer Michael Brook.
